Fashion

Sometimes it won’t feel like it, but it is still possible to find clothes that look good! Keep experimenting and stay open minded about where you shop. These tips will help you get started.

For girls: The fashion hitting the catwalks is high waisted clothes and empire lines, which are flattering for most body shapes and have the added benefit of not rubbing against your stoma. The classic shape of these clothes doesn’t date. River Island and M&S stock some excellent high waisted fashions. Swim suits could seem daunting, but M&S Tankinis work well, and companies like White Rose and CUI Wear specialize in swimwear for Ostomates, and are surprisingly fashionable.

For boys: Search stores like Burtons, Debenhams and M&S and try on as many different styles of trousers as you can find. It might sound like a bit of a nightmare, but it’s the best way to figure out what looks good and is comfortable. Vests under shirts or layered t-shirts can disguise the bulk of your pouch. For holidays at the beach, higher waisted swimming trunks are available.
